The Djinn in the Pen

The Djinn In The Pen, produced by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health in partnership with Cross Cultural Expressions, is written and directed by Mastaneh Moghadam, LCSW and stars Sahel Amani-Ghoreyshi and Matthew Nouriel. This fictional movie tells the story of Nadia, an immigrant woman who has locked herself in her basement in order to escape the emotional and mental distress of having to deal with multiple losses, including the death of her father. As she comes face to face with her unresolved grief over past losses, Nadia reaches a breaking point when she unwittingly manifests a Djinn to help her unlock the door and find the courage to move forward with the story of her life.

This movie has been adapted for Russian speaking audiences with Russian subtitles and for Iranian audiences with Persian (Farsi) subtitles.
